Just bitchin' ... Again

In my opinion, Lynyrd Skynyrd is the best and coolest band of all time. Having said that, I can't begin to imagine why the band refuses to play post plane crash music live. I love the classics just like the rest of you but it is absolutely ridiculous for them to not play any of their own GREAT music. My wife and I just recently rode our choppers 400 miles to see Skynyrd in Lampe Mo. They were great as always but refused to play even one single newer song. Not even Last of a Dyin' Breed which this tour is supposed to be promoting. Also, Red, White and Blue should be the "official" support our troops song, not Simple Man. My group and I have purchased 36 tickets to the Skynyrd show at the Kansas State Fair and every one of us love the last four albums. I hate to say it, but, if that show is a repeat of the standard "oldies" show, it will be my last. We'll just have our shop parties and play Vicious Cycle, God and Guns, Edge of Forever, and Last of a Dyin' Breed and continue to wish we could see these GREAT songs performed live. I really can't believe that these extremely talented musicians like playing the old stuff night after night. So, what IS the ***** deal anyway? These guys are WAY too good to go down in history as an oldies cover band.

Amen Brotha !
but, i did see the band at Cynthia Woods about 5 yrs ago and they did play Red, White, and Blue.
But nothing thursday nite, they did play down south juk'n and mississippi kid.
Come to think of it, only the old classics get on the radio,
With all the "new" members they should change up the sets

theres so many songs Seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd is like seeing a rare albino deer in the wild id say just be lucky you have the chance to go hear and see them at all is the way i look at it dont get me wrong i love a lot of the new stuff too thats never played excpecially x mas time againsong and 1991 and vicous cycle ect ect but It just amazes me how much time they spend away from home traveling to put on show and still have manners towards the same old crowds and scene.

were all just passing through life with one go at it as far as we know and they lynyrdskynyrd are spending a hell of a lot of there precious time on earth away from there home to bring music to people .......

Thank You Lynyrd Skynyrd for the music!

Mr. Shovel I agree with you completely. I saw them back in May at Harrahs in Chester,PA and they were great. Tonight July 17th they are playing not to far from me in NJ. with Bad Company at the susquehanna bank center a venue that I don't care for. I know this show will just be a greatest hits set. I would really like to see the band somewhere that they will play a lot of their new material and not have to share the billing with anyone else. If anyone knows of a venue or date when this may occur please post as I am willing to travel.

I would love to go to a show that was longer than an hour and had a more intimate crowd, even if the tickets were higher. I love the oldies, but as a member of the skynyrd nation, I yearn for the newer stuff too. L.s. rocks it out. I live in texas and have traveled to Louisiana and Virginia to see the band. Took my dad to one and he broke down in tears listening to the oldies. He saw the original band three times in the 70's, before the fucking tragedy and it hurt him, he was still in mourning hearing simple man and Freebird he just sat in his chair and mourned. I would love to be a Honkette and travel...well reality just set in, I am married with triplets and twins plus one....so I am on lockdown for now....

"Pronounced" is a terrific album. No doubt about it. So is "Second Helping" etc... The point is ... These guys have written and recorded several albums worth of FANTASTIC music that gets completely ignored at their live shows. This is BULLSHIT!!! If you've ever seen the "Vicious Cycle tour Lyve" DVD ( I'm sure you have) you've seen a good example of how it should be done. Mix up the new and old. TOO MUCH GREAT STUFF BEING SWEPT UNDER THE RUG !!!

I understand the points being made here. We all dig the old songs and will never forget 'em. But mix in the newer songs, too to keep things fresh at the concerts.

I agree. Your lucky if they play 13 -14 songs per show. Go to setlist.fm and look at their concerts and you will see what I am talking about. Check out other name artists and they are doing 20-25 songs per night. I only want a longer set. Just think about how many cool songs they can add even if they did 20 per show ( Last Rebel, The Way, Workin, Born to Run, That's how I like it ) to name a few. I've been saying this for years.
