Melvyn Skyrydyr, are you by chance from Antioch, Ca. or lived there @ one time in about 1990? I ask since I met a LS fan there and it's the only time I heard about the MS name for the band. I thought he was pulling my leg till he showed me a letter he received from Ed King on stationary with the same logo in your avatar. J Dawg

Naw he hails from way up in the northeast Union States of their America.

And yes the band was going to change the name until Bill Graham nixed the idea. Bill Graham management printed business cards for Bill Graham with the new name and logo and even issued letterhead using it for a very short time.

Lynyrd Skynyrd died at about 6:45PM on October 20th 1977. End of story. Good-Bye...could I get maybe a t-shirt that's worth wearing? Seriously...I never seen a shittier t-shirt. R.I.P. Ronnie, Allen. Steve, Leon, Cassie, Billy and who else perished on that bogus fucking day of that shitbag month of the worst year in my history. So long.

=EasyNote said:Allen Collins joined LYNYRD SKYNYRD on stage and from his wheel chair gave support all night back in 1987.

he would have been with them if able.

He gave his blessing and showed support because it was reunion tour. They were not supposed to keep touring and making albums using the name Lynyrd Skynyrd.

They didn't at first. That's why the first two albums were called "Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Tour" and "Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991."

Judy, seeing $$$$ blow down the street gave in.

The chemistry between Allen,Gary and Ronnie was pure magic. In my opinion,Lynyrd Skynyrd ceased to exist in 1977.But im very happy that the re-incarnation that now calls itself "Skynyrd" is out there winning new fans and keeping the old music alive. But most importantly...........to give Gary a chance to play.
