Big Joe

I saw a comment from a fellow who lives in Quebec , Canada that unfortunately disturbed me. It was about a stupid T-Shirt that he wasn't happy with. First of all, I am sorry that you got a lousy T-shirt, but let me inform you of who Big Joe REALLY was.
Big Joe won an MTV contest as the #1 Lynyrd Skynyrd fan ,that part is true ,and yes he has on a GREAT Lynyrd Skynyrd T-Shirt but that is just the beginning of his story. Since Big Joe passed away in August,2007, I will tell you a quick excerpt of his Skynyrd life. He ended up being their securtiy guard for 11 years and became family to Ronnie and Johnny and their father Lacy(hope I spelled that right). Also, since you enjoy Skynyrd's music so much, let me ask you this: Do you like the song,"Call Me The Breeze"? Well if it wasn't for Big Joe that song would have never been written by Ronnie Van Zant. You see, "The Breeze", was Big Joe's 1967 Chevelle which Ronnie was driving when he thought of the song.I had the pleasure of personally knowing Big Joe and he told me his story. This will remain in my Heart forever. He was an awesome man who, like the rest of the band that has gone on , will be missed forever.

Your friend forever,John Lukovich

-Dedicated to Big Joe's wife Char, Wild Bill, and all of the Skynyrd family.

p.s. Johnny I saw you in Birminhgham on 7/12/13. You said that you were recording us and I was in the 9th row with Nancy, my girlfriend, who I came down here 9 years ago to be with when you saw me with Big Joe and Char in Philadelphia in 2004. Look for the Big Joe Annual Picnic shirt being held up and you will see me. You guys rocked the house. LYNYRD SKYNYRD RULES FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

I apologize and give the credit to Mr. JJ Cale who recently passed away (2013). I must have misunderstood Big Joe when he told me. We were partying at Big Joe's that night. I do know however that Big Joe's 67 Chevelle was named the Breeze. I also know that Ronnie did drive it and may have reminded Ronnie of when he redid the song. Joe told me that Ronnie enjoyed drivin it lol. All that I know is that I miss Joe lots and unfortunately I will have to wait to ask him for clarification of what he really said that night. I miss him terribly. He was a really cool dude whose company I enjoyed greatly. RIP Big Joe.
