The music of Lynyrd Skynyrd continues to impact young artists today. After performing on American Idol with Alabama-native and Idol runner-up, Bo Bice, 10 years ago, the band now has a new act to support.
In Season 7 of NBC’s hit singing competition, the Voice, contestant Craig Wayne Boyd captured the hearts and ears of American audiences with his powerful voice and honky tonk style. When the Texas native advanced to the finals of the Voice, he called on one of the biggest rock bands in music for some help. In true Skynyrd fashion, the boys rocked the house, along with Boyd, on a rendition of “Sweet Home Alabama.”
In the clip below, an excited Boyd couldn’t stop smiling during the performance. Also shown in the video of the performance, country music superstar and one of the show’s mentors, Blake Shelton, was shown dancing and playing air-guitar to Skynyrd’s timeless hit. To join in on the fun and exciting atmosphere of a Skynyrd performance, catch them on one of their 2015 tour dates, listed here.
