What song has meant the most to you?

It's hard to choose a "favorite" Skynyrd song. It's mind-boggling why Skynyrd hasn't truly gotten the notoriety they should (as in being discussed as the greatest ever in everyone else's minds) (they'll always be #1 to me...), but the question I come to ask of you all today is this. In the ENTIRE Lynyrd Skynyrd catalog, which song has meant the MOST to you, and why?

For me, it's "Storm." I know Johnny wrote the song in a two-fold meaning (meaning the song was originally directed at Ean Evans; but he also wrote it for those struggling in life).

I was in between jobs when "God & Guns" came out. I had interviewed at many places and wasn't getting brought on. I felt lost, hopeless, run-down. I felt like no matter what I did I couldn't succeed.

...Then I heard "Storm."

WOW.

Just hearing that song blew me away. It gave me hope. Gave me my drive back. Put a better outlook on things just knowing they'd get better. I had lost my faith in God during that tough stretch. Skynyrd helped me right that ship. I never left God, but felt abandoned by him during that time. Skynyrd put everything into perspective and let me know God was just leading me to the right place.

...And boy he did. 2 months later I got a job at the current place I work at and have loved EVERY SINGLE MINUTE there. I wouldn't trade it for anything. God knew where he wanted to lead me. Skynyrd gave me refined hope...refined belief. I can't thank them enough for that.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The second song would again be off "God & Guns" with the song "Little Thing Called You." Between 2004-2007 I was in a nasty relationship with a girl who ran around using me, cheating on me (and had a kid with a different guy), yet I kept going back until after a while, I got tired of it and just broke it completely off....friendship and everything. Then when I heard "Little Thing..." it shocked me because EVERY thing that song said is exactly what happened to me. Weird.

Skynyrd is the greatest group ever. They say they write songs for the common man, and that is so true. Every last point of it.

Long live Lynyrd Skynyrd!

SWAMP MUSIC is THE best Skynyrd tune. No, SWEET HOME ALABAMA, FREEBIRD, POISON WHISKEY, CURTIS LOWE, TUESDAY'S GONE, ALL'S I CAN DO IS WRITE ABOUT IT, ROLL GYPSY ROLL, AM I LOSIN', RAILROAD SONG, CHEATIN' WOMAN...are the best songs. Hang on, I'll get ALL my Skynyrd albums out and TRY and find a shitty Lynyrd Skynyrd song. Not happenin'. They never wrote a shitty song, and the JJ Cale tunes they cover are great too. ALL LYNYRD SKYNYRD SONGS ARE GREAT. I just heard stuff like Michelle and Need All My Friends and If I'm Wrong...and they blew me away too. I just like Lynyrd Skynyrd's style and signature sound A LOT. I've learnt half of their songs on guitar and am figuring the rest out every day. I like jamming other band's songs too, but seem to really go at Lynyrd Skynyrd's stuff. It's cuz I love them so much I guess. Another tribute Skynyrd band would be a riot to participate in before I'm outa here. That'd ice the cake for me fer fukin' sure. Later SkynHeads.

You know, that's a really hard question. Which Lynyrd Skynyrd song do I like the best and what does it mean to me? I LOVE EVERY SINGLE LYNYRD SKYNYRD SONG EVER WRITTEN, THAT I'VE HEARD, AND THE ONES I JUST HEARD LATELY FROM THE ARCHIVES. From Mississippi Kid to You Got That Right to Need All My Friends and Michelle. They are ALL Platinum in my head.

I cant choose just 1, with their log of songs it is impossible. My top 5 i'll run down

1. Simple Man - This song is my mom and I favorite. I am her only son, i have been through alot in life and like the song says, "come listen closely to what i say, if you do this it will help you some sunny day" and my mom has always been my rock, and i have always lived my life by the way she brought me up....
2. Simple Life & Pure & Simple - Because i am 31 from metro Detroit area, and when i listen to these songs it takes me back to my childhood summer vacations to visit family in the Smoky Mountains of NC. Still stands as my most cherished childhood memories. Laid back, simple life. What i've always wanted
3. All i can do is write about it - such a beautiful song, with a great message.
4. Freebird - Everytime i hear it, especially live, it makes me reflect on those no longer in my life.
5. We aint much different - just a great song
