Back when I was a kid in Memphis , Tn. I had a friend that introduced me to Lynyrd Skynyrd. I didn't know who they were, or what they played, didn't know much about them at all.Then my friend played Free Bird for me, I was awestruck, I thought that's the coolest sound I'd ever heard.only closest thing I heard with such energy back then was Ted Nugents cat scratch fever and free for all. I also listened to Led Zeppelin alot. I remember asking my mom to buy me for Christmas Led Zep's Physical Graffitti cause I liked Kashmir alot. She mistakenly bought me Prounounced, but I was glad she made the mistake. After school, me and all the boys in the neighborhood would rush home from school and stick our speakers in the windows, and blast Free Bird as loud as we could. unfortunately I was always outdone, my sears and roebuck speakers just didn't cut it.I had to get a new player not long after due to ummm the smoky stinch left in my room one day as I fried my little speakers, lol. Just thought I would share that with you.If you can picture twenty kids running home after school jumping fences and running over dogs and cats just to be the first one to play Free Bird , then you've got the picture lol take care my friends have a great day , be safe everybody.
