Canceled Performances Due to Illness.

Johnny Van Zant, lead singer of the group Lynyrd Skynyrd, was hospitalized over the weekend due to complications from a previous surgery. Johnny Van Zant was admitted to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN on August 6, with a surgical site infected cellulitis which required hospitalization with IV antibiotic treatment. Van Zant has a severe Staph infection and multiple symptoms related to infection. Johnny Van Zant is to remain out of work and recover for at least one week or cleared by his primary doctor.

The following dates have been cancelled or re-scheduled:

-Clear Lake, WI at Firefest was August 6, is now re-scheduled for September 10
-Grand Rapids, MI at Rock the Rapids Music Festival on August, Skynyrd performance has been cancelled
-Sturgis, SD at Buffalo Chip on August 10, Skynyrd performance has been cancelled

For refunds, ticket holders should go back to point of purchase for refunds. Rescheduled shows will honor previously printed tickets.

Lynyrd Skynyrd plans to resume their regular tour schedule on Friday, August 12, in Sedalia, Missouri or as doctors advise.

Johnny, I really hope that you get well soon! You guys are the greatest! I've seen you several times in concert and you always blew the other bands away! I even won free tickets to see you in Columbus with ZZ Top several years ago. I sat by the radio for the whole weekend and got the last pair of tickets late that Sunday night. I just hope that I get the chance to see you again. I'd really like to be able to go on your cruise next year if you're having it. Well, again, I hope that you get well soon and pray that all of you will continue to be in the best of health.

Thanks for the update on Firefest. We were there and had a great time in spite of Johnny's misfortune. Looking forward to the official word.

It is impossible to think you were sick when you were performing in D.L. at the We Fest.. YOU ROCKED IT!!! Lynyrd Skynyrd -- highlight of my weekend of music.
I still cannot believe you were sick. You gave it 150% for a healthy guy!! Thanks for a great well. I already said a prayer and I'll keep 'em coming for ya.

I'm so sorry to hear about Johnny. I hope he is okay. Prayers being sent his way. We've lost enough in their circle of friends/family!! God bless you all. Heal up Johnny!! Remember sinking your hands and feet in red cement at Peaches Record Store (West Palm Beach, FL.) when you were just a lad starting out!! I have pics of us from that time..and a few others. Look to Jesus brother!!
