I agree with you LynSkyn. Can't wait to see what he comes up with for this.

Seems to me that Gene is going to afford Judy, Gary, and all others who were there access to the development of the movie.

Keep in mind, this is just the inking of the final contract, from there, who knows? I don't know if Gene has final creative control over the screenplay. Someone should ask before taking sides.

Of course, you still have to deal with the slant that the writers & director end up putting on the final product. This could either be the next "Walk the Line" or the next "Ishtar."

@roadfatigue: I'm not quite sure how Gene is only "loosely" tied to the band. Wasn't he Ronnie's friend from childhood? From what I know, he was around quite a bit during the '70's heyday (and was also present for the tribute tours). Was it just some accident that he happened to be on that Convair jet? To be fair, I'm sure Gary ain't no saint either. Certainly, no one involved with the band has totally clean hands. To think otherwise is fairly naive, wouldn't you say?

We are all in our own (maybe little way) part of tha band............ Ya caint be a part of somethin for most of your life and not feel like family.............. After all we are all brothers and sisters here........... Even if we have never met..... Thats why I always called us........

At least Gene is doing something about getting this thing going. Now is the time. We can't afford to lose anymore members, family members or affiliates. These people are very important to the story.

If it is to be about a Rock Band in the seventies,who were given all the Drugs they could do,all the Alcohol they could drink,and any Woman they wanted-wasn't that movie called ALMOST FAMOUS?
It's been done.And I bet you if Gary says ok you can do this if I get Paid-like any shrewd business man would- that movie just may go on hold,and here's Gene's opportunity to make Gary the bad guy. He has a pretty good idea what Judy and Gary are going to say,I'm sure. I have no clue how they'll react-I'd sure like to be a bug on that Wall when they speak with Gary..

@roadfatigue: I'm not quite sure if the movie, at this point anyway, is going to be a Lynyrd Skynyrd film or a Ronnie Van Zant bio-pic. It sorta sounds like it might end up being the latter of the two.

RF, I just stumbled upon the information on Gene's site. I like to look around a lot to see different photos and information. I do not know Gene or have an opinion of who is right or wrong. Although my loyalty will always be with Mr Rossington.
I do believe if the movie is going to be made, it should be done right. Like Gary said about the Tribute Tour, "Hey if we're gonna do it, let's do it right" I for one would love to see the LYNYRD SKYNYRD STORY brought to the people. It is an amazing story. Gary and Judy need to be involved to make it work.
