HI EVERYONE

KET MY STORY START, RAISED IN JACKSONVILLE, AROUND ALL THE BANDS THAT WERE STARTING. I MY SELF A WANTBE DRUMMER, NEVER QUITE GOT THER. SAW SKYNYRD, QUITE ALOT, ONE TIME IT WAS SUCH A GREAT MOMENT, AT EDWHITE SCHOOL. I WAS JUST SITING THERE A FOOT FROM RONNIE, NO STAGE, THEY WERE SET UP ON THE FLOOR OF THE FOOD COURT.GREAT SHOW, I WAS JUST LOST INCHES FROM THE SPEAKER, OF ALLEN COLLINS, I THINK THE BEST AXE PLAYER IN THE WORLD, AND WHEN THAT SRARTED TO PLAY FREEBIRD, AT THAT TIME BILLY , WAS NOT IN THE BAND, ALLEN START IT OFF, BY THE TIME THE GOT, TO THE BRIGE, I THINK THAT IS WHAT YOU CALL IT, JUST AS ALLEN TAKES HIS AXE, AND STARTES TO DO HIS LEAD BRAKE. WHEN HE GOT ABOUT A MIN, IN HE WAS EYES CLOSED JUMMING UP AND DOWN, BREAKING ONE OF HIS STRINGS, HIS WILD HAIR GOING EVERY,I WAS BLOWED AWAY, THEN ALLEN SLID OVER TO GARY , NOW TAKING HIS LEAD BREAK, THEN IN A FLASH. THEY ARE ALL ROCKING BACK AN FOURTH, WITH LEON, AT THIS TIME IN THE BAND THEIR WERE ONLY, A BASS AND TO AXE PLAYERS. THIS SONG, LASTED FOR OVER 20 MIN'S, I WAS WORE OUT WHEN THEY DONE. THEY TOOK A BREAK, WE ALL GOT DRINKS, AND TALKED, I MEAN IT WAS MY DREAM, I HAD A FEW WORDS WITH RONNIE, SAT ON THE DRUMMERS SEAT, WE TALKED, I TOLD HIM HOW MUCH, I WANTED TO BE HIM, AND AT THAT TIME, THE DRUMMER WAS , BOB BURNS, I THINK, HE SAID HE WAS TIRED, CAUSE RONNIE WAS WORKING THEM TO DEATH, SMALL GIGS LIKE THIS ONE, THEN PIRCTIS, EVERY DAY THAT WE DID NOT HAVE A GIG, OUT IN THE HELL HOLE THE BARN , RIONNE WAT GOING TO MAKE SURE THE WERE VERY TIGHT, I CAN SEE THAT NIGHT AS IF IT HAPPEN YESTERDAY,I WILL STOP FOR NOW, SORRY ABOUT THE SPELLING, AND GRAMER, I TRY MY BEST
I HAVE ALOT OF OTHER TIMES WITH SKYNYRD, AND OTHER JACKSONVILLE BANDS. WILL TRY TO POST ONCE A WEEK

Just a great share! Again thats what this is all about! Tributes to the band, then, and now, and in between!! Keep on keepin' the faith, and as brother Leaon said to me, "Rock Suthyn"! Again, thanks for sharin' a special moment in your life, exactly what my annual "Freebird Celebration" is all about! And we just completed our 22nd!

Great story, good to hear from a Jacksonville fan. I was born in Jacksonville and still live here, I always love the hometown stories about OUR local band that went on to play for millions and become members of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
