I wanted to clarify the discussion of the Confederate Flag in our recent CNN interview. Myself, the past and present members (that are from the South), are all extremely proud of our heritage and being from the South. We know what the Dixie flag represents and its heritage; the Civil War was fought over States rights.

We still utilize the Confederate (Rebel) flag on stage every night in our shows, we are and always will be a Southern American Rock band, first and foremost. We also utilize the state flag of Alabama and the American flag, ‘cause at the end of the day, we are all Americans.

I only stated my opinion that the confederate flag, at times, was unfairly being used as a symbol by various hate groups, which is something that we don’t support the flag being used for. The Confederate flag means something more to us, Heritage not Hate…

Tom, you know ive been a fan for over 35 years. I love this band. Seen 'em live over 50 times, and every thing else. Have even climbed some of the highest summits in the world and proclaimed my support for the guys with a banner at the top. My loyality is unwavering. They are just that great.

Speaking of flags, tho', im a little disappointed with who evers decision to physcially pull the American Flag down in the biker video. in my opinion that was in poor taste.

Can't ever be southern without the flag.....................

Wave it proudly........Don't ever use it for a "Political agenda" but rather a way of life..................

I'll tell ya the flag they should use, the Gadsden flag. As Gary has said, "if they don't like it, phuck 'em."

To some,the Confederate Flag represent's a Respect for those Ancestor's who fought and Died for what they believed in...A Heritage deeply engrained to the core....Proud,that they are related to the Southern cause..Its not a racial thing its a Blood thing and you aint taken that away....If Lynyrd Skynyrd loses the Flag they lose their Foundation origins..(roots).....Gary, this is your greatest asset(freebird)..
